Course Description
During this two-semester course, students will learn phonics and grammar concepts while building their vocabulary through the study of folktales and the classic stories Wind in the Willows and Adventures in Wonderland. Students will learn strategies to increase fluency and comprehension while mastering parts of speech and parts of sentences. Phonics and vocabulary skills will focus on special vowel sounds, prefixes and suffixes. Lastly, students will be introduced to writing in cursive. In each interactive lesson, students have the opportunity to complete self-check activities and short quizzes. Students will also complete response activities that require artistic creation. In each unit, students complete a unit exam to assess mastery of content.
