Course Description
The objective of the course includes understanding basic design and its relationship to the creative process. Students will be encouraged to keep visual diaries to support practical exercises. Research of fine art based on art history from ancient through contemporary works will be required. Comparative analysis of student work and prior student design solutions will be available. Students will be challenged with each unit of information to apply elements in visual patterns that support visual recognition as well as each student’s artistic expression. Ultimately, fine arts training, beginning with Basic Design, gives the student a sense of accomplishment, the potential development of hand/eye coordination, imagination, intuition, and self-realization. It is important to note since the beginning of time, the making and realization of art (both good and bad) is attributable only to human beings.
